Kilturra kennels is a small, privately run kennels which first came into being through our passion for our own sheepdogs which we both trial. Katharine then started taking in sheepdogs for farmers to begin their initial training. Finally, after much consideration and several requests, we decided to open our kennels up to a small number of boarding pets.
We are ideally situated in the heart of the Irish countryside on a small six-acre farm. Located close to Ballymote, Tubercurry and Charlestown, we are also only half an hour from Sligo town.
Katharine, originally from Ireland, has been involved in dogs all her life and qualified as a dog obedience instructor while living in Belgium, before finding a passion for working sheepdogs. Katharine also has a great deal of experience with rescue collies, fostering them before they are able to move on to a new home. Her husband Arjan, who hails from the Netherlands, also shares a passion for all things sheepdogs and both of us compete at sheepdog trials. Although our dogs are working companions, they are also very much loved pets, each with their own unique story and personality..
